Behind the Image: Giraffe

In this short form blog series I will be going through some of my most favourite photos from my South Africa trip at Welgevonden Game Reserve.

1st August

On this dull cold day we caught up with two lionesses from the Western Pride. One was down by the airstrip and we watched the other walk uphill towards a herd of wildebeest. Before she reached them however, she came across this male Giraffe feeding. Taking an opportunity, she decided to chase him around the bush he was feeding on and down the hill giving me the opportunity to get a Giraffe in motion.

Of course he got away and she was left looking puzzled and defeated, and so back up to the Wildebeest she went.

We almost lost visual a few times as she crept closer to the herd, but eventually the Wildebeest caught wind and she gave up. We decided to head back down to the airstrip for a view of the other lioness who gave us 30 seconds, yawned, and walked up the hill from where we had just come from to join the other female. They then joined up and had a little play before lying down.

I hope you enjoyed this quick read!
